Handling / Merchandising of Raspberries at Retail
Handling:

Raspberries are very perishable and should always be refrigerated. Ideal temperatures for raspberries are 32-34 degrees. They are very sensitive to freeze damage, so do not let temperatures fall below 31 degrees.

Select berries that are fresh looking, plump, dry and free of bruises and mold. Under ideal conditions, raspberries should have a shelf life of 1-2 days in your customers refrigerator. However, for best quality and flavor they should be consumed as soon after purchase as possible.

Merchandising:

Buy raspberries on a day-to-day basis and aim for same day sales. If some fruit remains unsold, keep refrigerated to ensure a longer shelf life. Our raspberries are sold primarily in clamshell containers which add to their shelf life preventing handling before purchase. Display your raspberries with all the other Pacific Gold Farms berry varieties by creating a berry patch in your produce department making it a destination category.
